Today and tonight were life-changing. Life has been ever-changing these past few weeks. After waiting, and waiting, and waiting, struggling and strugging and strugging, the dam finally seems to be giving way.
Through an amazing set of circumstances, I got to see, meet, and talk tonight with my literary inspiration, Donald Miller, author of "Searching For God Knows What" and "Blue Like Jazz", among other things.
While I was sitting in my seat, waiting for Don (I call him Don now) to come on, a young man sitting beside me asked if I was a fan of his (Don's, not the young man's). Perhaps the stack of books I had brought with me and the fact that I was struggling to hold back tears of emotion over getting to meet the author had given me away.
We got to talking and I shared that I was a writer, and that Donald Miller was a huge inspiration to me. He (the young man, not Don) asked if I had a blog. I stared blankly at him for a moment before admitting I was completely clueless about that sort of thing.
He said, "Oh it's easy. You can get a free blog at blogspot.com".
So here I am at my kitchen table at midnight--BLOGGING!! He was right. It's easy. And it was free.
So thank you, Troy from Union University, currently working at St. Jude. Thank you for your heart, your generosity of spirit and for being the one God sent to show me how to do this.
Thank you, Don Miller, for letting God use you to inspire others, specifically me, to "create a great story" with their lives.
Thank you God, for bringing me me through conflict to meet both Don and Troy, both inspirational and life-changing, each in their unique, special way. May this be the first of many. Many blogs and many people you send me to show me the way. . .
